Our Mestre
Glauber Fernandes is a widely respected young master of the Capoeira art form. Born in Brazil, he a decade teaching and residing in the U.S.
Mestre Glauber has decades of experience in the many elements of Capoeira, from the physical to the musical. His master, with whom Glauber began training in 1982, is Mestre Suíno (Elto Pereira de Brito), the greatly respected head of Grupo Candeias (an international Capoeira organization with thousands of members). Other important names that contributed to his Capoeira education are Mestre Marujo (Willer Miranda Guimarães), Mestre Ilustre (Rubens dos Santos Silva) and Professor Marrom (Juracy da Silva Guimarães), all disciples of Mestre Suíno.
Mestre Glauber majored in Physical Education in 1994 at the ESEFEGO (Escola Superior de Educação Física do Estado de Goiás) in Goiânia, Go – Brazil, and speaks English and Spanish, as well as his native Portuguese. He has taught and performed in several public and private schools in Brazil and in the U.S. and traveled around the world to perform, lecture, and teach workshops.
His years of experience and lineage provide him with a vast knowledge of Capoeira history, and a great deal of connections and resources within the Capoeira community.
